Elevators are used worldwide for transportation of human beings and goods within a building. Home elevator is an addition to this. There are three main types of home elevators rather ways of moving the elevator.
Firstly, there are climbing home elevators. Climbing elevator driven at its own. It is moved by electric or combustion engine. Climbing elevators are very simple t install and use.
Hydraulic elevators are the second type of residential elevator. They are more commonly used home elevators because there structure suits to small and medium size buildings. Hydraulic pistons are used to move elevator up and down. That is why it is called hydraulic elevator. There are two types of piston used in hydraulic elevators. One type of piston is made up of telescopic concentric tubes.
Other type of pistons are made PVC casing. Both of these pistons have their own advantages. There are various types of hydraulic elevators. One is roped hydraulic which is made up of ropes and hydraulic pistons. Second is twin post hydraulic elevator which uses no hole. And the third one is hole less hydraulic elevator.
The third type of home elevators is traction elevators. Traction elevators come in two type, geared elevators and gearless elevators. Traction elevators use DC motor to run. Geared elevators move more quickly than gearless elevators. It is so because geared elevators use steel ropes which slide more rapidly. Typical speed of geared elevator is 2.5 meters per second and that of gearless elevators is 200 feet per minute.
